Best in class: Mars Australia one of Australia’s best places to work

Sydney, Australia: It’s official - according to the newly released Best Places to Work Study, Mars Australia, best known for its iconic brands such as WHISKAS®, PEDIGREE®, ROYAL CANIN®, EXTRA®, SKITTLES®, M&M’S®, MALTESERS®, MASTERFOODS® and DOLMIO®, has been ranked the Number 1 best workplace in Australia of businesses with 1,000 or more employees.

Mars Petcare General Manager, Barry O’Sullivan said, “Mars Australia isn’t new to the top 20 but a top five ranking is a major milestone for us. Even more so when for the first time we have been rated against like-sized peers in the new Enterprise Employer category.”

“We have never made our ambition to be one of the best workplaces in Australia a secret.”

“We strive each day to work collaboratively with our more than 2,000 employees across our petcare, confectionery and food segments, to foster a workplace where they can enjoy a long, rewarding career and work on fun, best loved brands that are in nine out of 10 Australian households.”

Mr O’Sullivan said, “We understand that our employees are the heart of our business and while this is a great accolade, we will not rest on our laurels.”

“Our commitment to our employees is that we are always listening and improving our versatile work environment; identifying development, training and secondment opportunities for their professional and personal growth; providing flexible work hours to maintain a work life balance and offering a range of other benefits such as health and wellbeing programs and a bring your pet to work program.”

Best Places to Work is a widely recognised, comprehensive, annual study that recognises the 50 ‘best in class employers’ nationally. Focussed on workplace culture, the study benchmarks businesses against a series of engagement indicators which include trust, pride in work and colleague camaraderie.

Great Place to Work Australia Managing Director Zrinka Lovrencic said, “This is an exciting, transformative and competitive time for companies.”

“Companies which have made the 2017 study have risen to this challenge and exemplify workplace culture excellence.”

Mr O’Sullivan said, “While we are proud of the public recognition of our workplace, this ranking more importantly gives us the opportunity to celebrate our employees and know that we are on the right path.”
