Mars Petcare Australia is donating more than $1.3 million worth of pet food across Australia to local PetRescue member groups, distributed by PETstock Australia

  • PetRescue has helped half a million rescue pets to find new homes since its launch in 2004
  • At any one time, around 10,000 pets are listed for adoption on the PetRescue website - all needing food, shelter and care while they wait for their new homes
  • This is the 3rd year (launched in 2016) the initiative has been running and sees the biggest donation ever

Local pet rescue organizations in Adamstown will receive a $73,008 pet food donation to feed the rescue pets in their care. The initiative from Mars Petcare Australia, now in its third year, will be rolled out nation-wide to more than 30 hub stores and 256 rescue organizations locations on Saturday, 19 May.

In Adamstown alone 407 of pets are being fostered/cared for. Rescue resources are often scarce, with food being one of their major expenses. This donation allows for funds to be reallocated to other important lifesaving essentials and is a major part of Mars Petcare Australia’s mission to end pet homelessness in Australia and make
a better world for all pets, whatever their situation in life.

Local rescue organizations who signed up for the donation through PetRescue will access their share of pet food resource from their local PETstock store. PETstock has generously provided their distribution services across the country to ensure that pets right across Australia can benefit from this donation.

Vickie Davy, co-founder and joint CEO of PetRescue said, “We are really excited to continue this national initiative, knowing that it will have a huge positive impact on rescue pets around the country. The generosity of our partners PETstock and Mars Petcare Australia means that this donation is the largest ever - more food, reaching more pets
in need than ever before. Winter is always a tough time for rescue groups so by providing support through our food donation we hope to relieve a little of the pressure on resources.”

Across New South Wales, 65 rescue groups will be provided with an allocation of pet food, locations include: Fyshwick, Dural, Coffs Harbour, Gregory Hills, Bathurst, Belrose and Adamstown.

This will be the first national donation driven by Mars Petcare Australia in 2018, with more partnership activities with PetRescue to come later in the year.
